Hotel San Cristobal

Alchemizing
Authenticity + Soul
An immersive experience was created so visitors are greeted by an all-sensory, one-of-a-kind experience; a unique playlist, a color palette, + even a scent.
Named in honor of Saint Christopher, patron of travelers, surfers, sailors and protector during long journeys, Hotel San Cristóbal sits on the beach on the southwestern edge of the Baja peninsula in Todos Santos, Mexico. Signage pieces, furniture + light fixtures were designed for the hotel in collaboration with local artisans.
Everything in the hotel is designed around the views it affords, permitting visitors a constant reminder of the expanse just beyond, often with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the ocean or the mountains outside. Many of the rooms have private outdoor spaces or covered patios, soaking tubs or outdoor showers, encouraging guests to place themselves directly in the throes of the elements rather than hide in the shelter of the air-conditioning.
The interiors are peppered with handcrafted Mexican ceramics + lamps, Guatemalan fabrics, and custom-fabricated furniture from Guadalajara. The mattresses in every room are made from coconut fibers, cactus, seaweed, and horsehair as opposed to any artificial materials. Forests of San Pedro cacti flank the white stucco exterior walls, and an abundance oof Amethyst Artisan tiles drape the floor and exterior staircase.
All of the Bunkhouse Group's hospitality properties put a special focus on community, and San Cristóbal is no exception. The vibe there encourages visitors to honor local culture, and asks that guests help "leave a light footprint."
